The prefectural government also received about 1,100 e-mails saying in Japanese, Korean and English "Dokdo is South Korea's territory" from a certain IP address in about 10 minutes from around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, the officials said.

As many as 100 hits per second were made from around 9 a.m. Wednesday, making it difficult for other people to connect to the website, the officials said.

The prefecture denied Internet access from specific IP addresses starting around noon that day, but accesses were made from other IP addresses in South Korea, the officials said.kyodo/ June 1,
